Bio

Spike McGuire is an internationally touring musician that has performed in 16 states and 5 countries as
well as a GraphTech Guitar Labs endorsed. He is known for his work as founder of Loud As Folk. On the rich spectrum of folk music McGuire resides decidedly closer to Pete Seger than Peter, Paul, and Mary and has spent the last decade and a half drawing
parallels between the ethos of punk rock and the spirit of folk music by building community and engaging
listeners with his message. The lessons McGuire learned on the road now serve him well in his
position of Executive Director at Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, NV.

In 2011 McGuire founded Loud As Folk, a monthly songwriters series in his hometown Reno, NV. Over
the last 12 years the showcase has cemented itself as a hub of the west coast music circuit by hosting
acts from around the world. When live shows were forced into a world-wide hiatus, LAF didn’t miss at a
beat. Under McGuire’s direction the organization pivoted and began taking the music straight to listeners
homes.

From 2020-2022 LAF studios produced and recorded 24 exclusive original releases featuring a
different songwriter each month on vinyl, cassette, and CD for a membership based record club.
With live shows once again a viable option, Loud As Folk has resumed its monthly showcase by
partnering with Nevada Museum of Art for their long standing First Thursday event, which is both curated and hosted by McGuire.

As of 2023 Spike assumed the role of Executive Director at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, NV. Fear not, he still moonlights as a musical marauder.
